What are Sucralfate uses?

Sucralfate is mainly a short-term medicine (up to 8 weeks) which is used for treating an active duodenal ulcer. This medicine works in the lining of the stomach and is not extremely absorbed into your body. It observes to ulcer sites as well as protects them from acids, bile salts as well as enzymes.

Before you measure Sucralfate suspension medicine, ensure that you shake it properly. Always use the dosing syringe which is provided with the medicine for measuring the dose. Do not make use of kitchen dose as you might get the wrong dose.  

Remember one thing that you should never inject a liquid form of this medicine into your body through the needle as death might occur. Carafate oral suspension should only be taken by mouth.

Can you take Sucralfate during pregnancy?

Can a breastfeeding mother take Sucralfate? 

It is still unknown whether this medication passes into breast milk or not. So before breast-feeding make sure that you ask your doctor once about taking Sucralfate.   

What precautions do you need to take before using Sucralfate? 

Before taking this medicine make sure that you tell your doctor or pharmacist that you are allergic to it or have any other kind of allergies. Since Sucralfate medication is known to contain inactive ingredients due to which they can certain allergic reactions or other conditions. Since kidney function declines as a person grows older. Sucralfate is known to contain aluminium which is mainly removed by your kidneys. Elderly people can have a great risk of developing high aluminium levels while you are using this medicine with any other products that are known to contain aluminium like antacids.  

What are the side effects of Sucralfate? 

While using this medicine, there are chances that you might suffer from nausea, constipation, gas, dry mouth as well as an upset stomach. Do contact your doctor immediately, if you see that any of these problems continue or worsen.
