Usage

When to use Rosuvastatin?

Rosuvastatin is given together with diet in order to lower blood levels of bad cholesterol so that there can be an increase in good cholesterol levels. Rosuvastatin used for also treating hereditary types of high cholesterol such as the heterozygous type which is inherited from one parent or the homozygous type which is inherited from both parents.  

Rosuvastatin tablets can be given to children who are 8 years old or above for the treatment of heterozygous type, while for the treatment of homozygous type, Rosuvastatin can be given to children who are young or at least 7 years old. Therefore, the Ezallor brand of rosuvastatin medicine is only given to adults.    

Rosuvastatin generic drug is available in the brand name of Crestor. Crestor is mainly prescribed to adults in order to slow down the progression of atherosclerosis which is a build-up of plaque in blood vessels that blocks the blood flow. 

Crestor cholesterol medicine helps in lowering the risk of stroke, heart attack as well as other complications in men of 50 years age or older and women of 60 years or older who are suffering from coronary heart disease or some other risk factors.  

The generic name for this medicine is Rosuvastatin.  

How Rosuvastatin should be taken?  

Read the instructions carefully before you start taking the rosuvastatin 10 mg and also each time you get it refilled. If you have any kind of doubts, do consult your doctor first.    

Rosuvastatin calcium tablets should be taken by mouth as directed by your doctor. Rosuvastatin 20 mg can be taken with or without the food mainly once a day.

Consult your doctor once before breast-feeding as Crestor cholesterol medicine passes into breast milk. Since it can affect the infant due to which this medication is not recommended during the breastfeeding time.  

If you are of Asian descent, then make sure your doctor knows about it. People suffering from Asian descent absorb rosuvastatin at a higher rate as compared to other people.  

Avoid eating foods that are high in fat or cholesterol as this medicine will not be effective in that case.  

What are the side effects of rosuvastatin medicine? 

Some of the common side effects of rosuvastatin tablets are headache, muscle aches, weakness, stomach pain as well as nausea.  

You need to call your doctor immediately if you see any signs of allergic reactions such as hives, swelling f your lips, face, throat, and tongue. Get the emergency help once, if you have:

  • Signs of confusion and memory problems
  • Experience various liver problems such as tiredness, dark urine, upper stomach pain, loss of appetite as well as jaundice.
