What are Glimepiride uses? 

Glimepiride is used for improving blood sugar control in adults suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is one of the oral diabetes medicines that is used along with diet as well as exercise.   

Glimepiride pill should not be used for treating type 1diabetes. There are chances that your doctor might give this medicine with other medications. Glimepiride is known to belong to the class of drugs called sulfonylureas. When your high blood sugar is controlled, it helps in preventing kidney damage, sexual function problems, nerve problems as well as loss of limbs. What if you miss a dose?

Precautions to be taken while using Glimepiride

There are chances that doctor substitutes your medicine with insulin during pregnancy. If you are using Glimepiride medicine then it may be switched to insulin for at least two weeks before the expected delivery date so that the risk of Glimepiride side effects is less in your new-born.     

Can a breastfeeding mother take Glimepiride?
