Benazepril Uses 

This medicine is an ACE inhibitor that is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It is a combination of two drugs an ACE inhibitor as well as hydrochlorothiazide. Benazepril medication works by relaxing blood vessels which causes them to widen. This medicine increases the amount of urine your body makes thus helps in decreasing the excess water as well as salt in your body. Therefore, lowering high blood pressure assists in preventing heart attacks, kidney problems and strokes.

Benazepril Dosage

Benazepril Side Effects

Benazepril Precautions

  • You have taken a heart medicine recently like sacubitril
  • You have severe allergic reaction to any ACE inhibitor such as captopril, fosinopril, enalapril, quinapril and trandolapril.

You should not take this medicine within 36 hours before or after taking medicine that contains sacubitril like entresto.  

If you are also suffering from diabetes, the avoid taking Benazepril together with any medication which contains aliskiren. You should avoid taking this medicine if you are suffering from kidney disease.  

Inform your doctor, if you have ever had:

  • Liver disease
  • Heart disease
  • An organ transplant
  • Kidney disease

Tell your doctor right away, if you have become pregnant and stop taking this medicine. This medicine can cause injury or death to the unborn baby if you intake this medicine during your third or second trimester.  

When you are consuming this medicine, you should not take this medicine because it passes into breast milk.  

Therefore, this medicine is not approved for children younger than six years old. 

When you visit the doctor, inform about your complete medical history as this medicine is not used in certain medical conditions.  

Avoid driving or use any machinery that requires alertness because this drug makes you drowsy as well as dizzy. This medication often makes you more sensitive to the sun and increases your risk for skin cancer, if taken for long time. It is suggested by doctor to limit your time in sun and use sunscreen as well as protective clothing when outdoors.
